Description

These geometries are used in some mCBM production setups (iron, uranium, nickel or fold) so they should have material maps to allow tracking in simulation and real data.
For this the boundaries of the stations in the corresponding geometries will be needed, therefore the task is assigned to the detector groups creating the geometry.

In case of problems/uncertainty on the procedure to follow to generate the maps, please contact Valentina or Eoin.

The files should be added to the main parameter repository in the much folder in a new MR, which will be merged after the mCBM MRs stack if processed

=> @Vikas: Not sure to whom it should be assigned, could you please suggest a name?

Hello Valentina, Eoin,

We would take care to generate the material budget maps for mMUCH geometries 22g, 22i, 22j & 22k. Md. Adil, a masters student is working with me on this project. As I understand material maps are to be generated for each station of a given mMUCH geometry separately. Can you please suggest the steps/macros which should be followed/used for this purpose?

There is one file available in the repository for mMUCH_v22d. Do we need to generate similar maps for these selected geometries?

Regards,
Partha

Dear Valentina,
We will generate the material budget maps for the suggested mMUCH geometries. Could you please step(s)/macro(s) we need to use for generation of mMUCH material budget maps? Md. Adil, a masters student is working with me on this project. As we understand material maps are to be generated for each station of a given mMUCH geometry separately, like those available in the repository for the STS geometries.

Regards,
Partha

Dear Partha,

I have written a short instruction for TRD material maps here:
https://redmine.cbm.gsi.de/issues/2517

It should be easy to adjust the 2nd macro to the case of Much.

As we understand material maps are to be generated for each station of a given mMUCH geometry separately, like those available in the repository for the STS geometries.

Yes, it will be done automatically this way if one provides correctly number of stations and z-positions in the 2nd macro (matbudget_ana_mcbm_trd.C).

Please let me know if something is not clear.

Best regards,
Valentina

Dear Pierre,
With explicit help from Valentina, we have prepared the material budget maps for the mMUCH geometries 22g, 22i, 22j. Material maps for 22k are also ready. The png files for the material maps are attached herewith. Please have a look and comment.

Partha

Is the radiation length of 2 X0 for the RPC expected? This seems to be the same as the GEM stations with their aluminum cooling plates.

If yes and the position looks reasonable to the involved persons in the MUCH team, I would say you can do a merge request to https://git.cbm.gsi.de/CbmSoft/cbmroot_parameter with the corresponding root files in the folder much. The files should be named much_matbudget_v22?_mcbm.root for geometry 22? to make sure the system finds them.

Hi Partha,

Could you also attach here, the macro you used to generate the material budget maps.

Many thanks,
Eoin

Hi Eion, Pierre
Please find attached the relevant macros (transport and analysis). Some descriptions specific to mMUCH geometries are included as comments. The calculations are done by our new masters student Md. Adil Aman.

Regarding 2X0 radiation length for RPC, we plan to have a detailed discussion in the next MUCH weekly meeting on Friday, after which we would proceed for the merge request as suggested.

Regards,
Partha
