Development #365
closedValidate the event based TOF digitizer-clusterizer chain and the new TOF geometry and make them standard
Description
1) Check that the TOF digitizer and clusterizer provide results matching beamtime observations
2) Check that the new TOF geometry describing also the inner wall (v14a-v14b) do not introduce problems
3) Make 1) and 2) standard in the setup files and the main macros
More details to come after collaboration meeting

1) Some changes were done in the digitizer and clusterizer to avoid the following "non-realistic behaviors":
- A track could generate multiple clusters with different detector times if coming in the detector at an angle => now all cluster from a same track have the same detector time in a single detector (still different time are possible for a track passing two detectors)
- If the Digi at both end of a strip came from different tracks, the resulting Y position (built from the time difference) could be outside of the detector area => now this pairs are rejected and not included in the Hit. This may lead to clusters split into two hits, but should prevent unrealistic Y position of the resulting hit
2) The files for the new TOF geometries are now in trunk. The description files (tof_v14-0x.geo.info) are still missing and should be added later by N. Herrmann (same is true for the beamtime geometries v15x).
1) and 2) New/updated parameter files are needed for each geometry with values extracted from beamtime results (cluster size fit parameters, signal propagation velocity, efficiency, detector resolution, ...)

The new geometries will be made standard in setup files in the new release. For this the versions a, b, c, d and e need to be generated with the help of David Emschermann.
If no new bug/understood feature is found, the digitizer+clusterizer chain will also be made standard in the macros

Due to lack of time, only the new geometries will be tested to enter the Nov15 release.
The new Hit generation chain as standard is pushed back to the Feb15 target.

At the TOF hits level, the new geometry show slight improvements in Hits property residual and improvement for the Pion and Proton efficiency relative to tracks with at least 3 STS points and as function of the MC track momentum.
Due to collisions with PSD in the muon setups, the standard geometry were checked and changed only on the hadron and electron setups in r8756.
In attachment are plots showing a comparison of the old (v13-5X) and new (v16a_XX) geometries in 50k central Au+Au events at 10 AGeV, with and without TRD for the SIS100 electron setup.
The blue curve is the old geometry with TRD.
The red curve is the new geometry with TRD.
The green curve is the old geometry without TRD.
The orange curve is the new geometry without TRD.
Similar results are obtained with the SIS100 hadron and SIS300 electrons setups.

New CbmTofDigiBdfPar parameter file need to be provided for the new geometries. The default one leads to a crash in CbmTofDigitizerBDF => failed test tof_digi1 in cdash.
As this is not yet standard in the main macros for the Nov15 release, this failed test is not a stopping reason for the release.
=> Fixed in r8761

Dear Pierre,
can this be closed for NOV15?

Yes, I close it as a new issue has been created with remaining tasks for Feb16
