CbmRoot: CBM Software Meeting 04 August 2022

Added by Pierre-Alain Loizeau 4 days ago

Dear colleagues,

Please be invited to our software meeting tomorrow from 10:30 to latest 12:00 CEST, which has only one point on the agenda due to holidays and will therefore be a short one (expect 1/2-3/4h):

- Report any pressing problem and/or time-critical planned MR, as most Cbmroot administrators with merging rights will be absent during the middle of August.

You are welcome to request the addition of more topics if needed.

The meeting information can be accessed from https://indico.gsi.de/event/15374/

With my best regards,

Pierre-Alain Loizeau

CbmRoot: Problems with GitLab web interface after yesterday update

Added by Pierre-Alain Loizeau 10 days ago

Dear colleagues,

As was reported by Eoin Clerkin in this morning software meeting, it seems that following the update of our GitLab server yesterday evening the compatibility with some combinations of older browser/older OS was broken.
The main symptom is infinitely looping wheel icons in the responsible person fields of the MR pages, as well as some errors in the browser console

The problem was now observed with more browsers and users, and therefore probably affect all users of GSI Linux desktop machine who are still on Debian 8.

A ticket was created with the GSI IT by Eoin, but in order to gather more momentum we would like with Florian to gather a list of users blocked by this and of their browser/OS combinations.

I started such a list in a new infrastructure issue in our redmine, which you can find at https://redmine.cbm.gsi.de/issues/2565
Please respond to this issue if you find out that you also have the problem, mentioning you OS and your browser version.

I also added a list of OS/browser pair where the website works.
If everything works fine for you and your OS+browser is not listed, please let me know so I can add it, it may help us to find out which minimal versions the new Gitlab is requesting.

Best regards
Pierre-Alain

CbmRoot: CBM Software Meeting 14 July 2022

Added by Pierre-Alain Loizeau 25 days ago

Dear colleagues,

Please be invited to our software meeting tomorrow from 10:30 to 12:00 CEST, where the only point at the agenda is a rough description by myself of the changes which will be introduce from the mCBM fork to the main master in coming days, organized in topical MRs.
Finer details of the changes can later be found in the respective MRs.

You are welcome to request the addition of more topics if needed, as this will probably not fill the full meeting (Florian and Volker may be present in the later part of the meeting but without insurance).

The meeting information can be accessed from https://indico.gsi.de/event/15371.

Added by Florian Uhlig about 1 month ago

Dear colleagues,

sorry for the late information. Volker is today absent and I was nut sure if I am available due to another meeting.
Anyway we will have a short meeting to discuss two issues.

1. Report about problems with event generators in CbmRoot (Anna Senger)
2. Follow up about the usage of ONNX (Martin Beyer)

Please find here the meeting information. I am not sure if anybody will setup the meeting room or if we will have a pure virtual meeting.

CbmRoot: CBM Software Meeting 23 June 2022

Added by Florian Uhlig about 2 months ago

Dear colleagues,

please be invited to our tomorrows software meeting which takes place at 23 June 2022, 10:30 - 12:15 CEST. The pointers to the event are attached below.

The meeting will be dedicated to a discussion about the usage of Machine Learning in CBM. As an introduction we will have several short 10 minutes talks from people already using ML in any form within the context of CBM software. The talks will focus on the used tools and the found technical problems.
In the following 30 minutes block we want to discuss a coherent way to integrate the different approaches in CbmRoot.

CbmRoot: new replacement 5 station STS geometry (1 comment)

Added by Eoin Clerkin about 2 months ago

Dear Colleagues,

A 5 station STS geometry with the tag 'v22b' is made available through the cbmroot geometry repository https://git.cbm.gsi.de/CbmSoft/cbmroot_geometry . To obtain it, you may update your geometry repo in your usual ways, i.e.

cd cbmroot/geometry && git pull origin master;

It is strongly encouraged that this geometry replaces the 'sts_v21e_sis18' geometry which should no longer be used as it has been shown to cause segmentation faults in transport for certain framework and system configurations when used in conjunction with certain setups of subsystems.

Thanks Florian, David, and Mehul for contributing to this sts geometry.

Best Regards,
Eoin Clerkin
